About The Blues Kitchen Camden
The Blues Kitchen Camden is a capacity-unlisted, bar-scale live-music room on Camden High Street, London, where an in-house band programme keeps soul, blues and R&B in circulation through the week. Its defining calling card is an endurance feat: during its tenth-birthday celebrations, the venue hosted a 100-hour continuous charity jam in June 2019. Come for a show that can begin as dinner and roll into a late DJ set, with live music at the centre of the experience.
A pub site remade for the jam
Before blues took the sign, this Camden site moved through several pub and bar identities. CAMRA records its earliest name as the Stationers’ Arms, followed by the Brighton, Bar Royale, Sports Dome and Oh Bar; it became The Blues Kitchen in 2009. Wikipedia credits Columbo Group directors Steve Ball and Riz Shaikh with launching the Camden operation in October that year. Five years later, the room set a 50-hour Guinness-record musical jam for its anniversary, according to the Evening Standard. In June 2019, its tenth birthday supplied the larger sequel: a planned 100-hour, pay-to-play blues marathon running from June 9 to June 13 and raising funds for Help Refugees and Camden Music Trust. That date offers the clearest snapshot of the house approach: a stage open to musicians of varied ability, an audience drawn into the event, and a live-room identity built around participation.
The room after dark
Programming favours blues, soul and R&B. Weeknights carry free entry; Fridays and Saturdays are free before 9pm, while walk-ins are welcome and larger groups can book space. Friday’s Camden Got Soul leans into soul and Motown; Saturdays bring three sets spanning soul, Motown, R&B and neo-soul before DJs run until 3am. Expect a stage amid leather dining booths and a long bar with 50-plus bourbons and whiskies; CAMRA also notes blues portraits and lamps made from musical instruments.
