About Colour Factory

Colour Factory is a Black-owned live-music and club venue in Hackney Wick, London, with an overall capacity of 1,800. Its defining feature is flexibility: a former garage site now operates across a large warehouse floor, an upstairs mezzanine and an outdoor garden. That setup gives a single show room to breathe or lets a promoter build a multi-stage day-to-night bill, with the Garden adding a rare open-air option in Queen’s Yard.

A garage remade for the dancefloor

Colour Factory launched in April 2021 as Nathanael Williams’s new venue in the former Mick’s Garage at Queen’s Yard. Its first public phase arrived on April 16, 2021, with the opening of Colour Garden: a 300-capacity outdoor space fitted with a Martin Audio system. Pandemic-era warm-up events brought AQWEA, Ahadadream, OK Williams, Sicaria Sound and Ikonika into the garden before the indoor rooms returned to use. On July 15, 2022, the venue marked its first birthday through a seven-hour, two-room party. Kingdom and KG led the Factory bill, while PXSSY PALACE, Howl and the Harpies collective occupied the mezzanine. Those launch choices set the venue’s character: electronic music at scale, paired with a stated commitment to culturally diverse, mixed-gender programming.

The rooms and the bill

Colour Factory offers dry and wet hire, with spaces available independently or together, so individual promoters strongly shape each event’s atmosphere. The Factory provides 2,700 square feet of unobstructed, step-free floor space and holds 700 for live shows; the Mezz sits upstairs, while the Garden holds 350 outdoors. Indoor rooms use Danley Sound Labs systems. Expect electronic, R&B, Latin, hip-hop, folk and pop alongside jazz, techno and experimental-pop bills, plus weeknight jam sessions.
