La Deskomunal SCCL

La Deskomunal sits in Sants, Barcelona, inside La Comunal, a cooperative complex in a former sail-making factory. The 200-capacity room couples a concert space with a bar-restaurant, giving a small show the feel of an evening that can begin at the table and end in front of a 4x4-metre stage. Its August-to-December 2026 calendar remains active despite an announced year-end closure, so each date carries the charge of a final season.

Sails, clubs and a final season

The building began in 1925 as one of four workshops manufacturing and industrialising sails for Barcelona ships. After industrial decline left the complex empty, Barcelona added it to its architectural-heritage catalogue in 2015; La Comunal then brought cooperatives into the site. La Deskomunal followed in 2020, joining the music-bar Koitton Club, active since late 2012, and restaurant Kop de Mà, which began in 2013. The concert room opened on December 31, 2020, shaped to continue Koitton’s concert and DJ programme. On March 12, 2026, the cooperative announced that activity would end late in 2026, citing sustained wear including inspections, complaints, fines, restrictions, pandemic pressures and a shortage of successors. The announcement also invited a new project to take up the space.

The room today

La Deskomunal books a deliberately wide cultural slate: live concerts, DJ sessions and club nights share the room with poetry, book presentations, debates, film screenings, assemblies and comedy. Expect bills that cross punk and hardcore, rock, electronic sets and singer-songwriter work; the official diary includes Integrity, Grade 2, The Upsessions and Chuck Ragan for autumn and December 2026. The soundproofed venue has two floors: downstairs, the daytime kitchen and restaurant converts for evening music; upstairs, La Cantina provides a separate gathering space.
