About Espai Salvadiscos

Espai Salvadiscos is a compact Poble-sec venue in Barcelona with no public capacity figure, operating as a cultural association for members. Its defining feature is physical as much as musical: a vinyl DJ booth faces a wall of records, making the selector and the collection the focal points of the room. Expect an intimate, listening-led setting for DJ sessions, occasional concerts, workshops, and audiovisual events.

Built around the record collection

Salvadiscos grew from a vinyl-focused project begun by JordiO, a DJ and record digger, and Salva, co-creator of Festival Hipnotik and co-owner of Curtis Audiophile. During the COVID-19 pandemic, they turned that activity into the nonprofit Associació Cultural Salvadiscos, creating Espai Salvadiscos as a shared base for people drawn to records and music culture. The origin story matters because the room remains organized around that participatory premise: members, DJs, collectors, and cultural programming share the same space.

By December 2021, local outlet betevé described Salvadiscos as a Poble-sec record shop inviting a DJ for a live session each day; DJ Toner appeared on its listed December 12 program. A later betevé guide singled out the venue’s neighbourhood involvement and recorded appearances by reggae-dub figure Mad Professor, evidence of a calendar that reaches beyond a single collector niche while retaining vinyl culture at its center.

Inside the session

This is a members’ association, so the booking model centers cultural programming and member participation alongside public-facing nights. Its calendar leans toward DJ-led electronic music, house, disco, funk, soul, hip-hop, reggae, Afro and Latin selections, with concerts and special events folded in. Tuesdays and Wednesdays have operated as open-booth sessions for members who want to play records, practice, or record a set. The booth, record wall, rest areas, bar service, and high-quality sound system make the room best suited to close listening and dancing within the same compact floorplan.
